The Security Sales Associate is responsible for working with the General Contractor, Electrical Contractor and End Users to provide sales support to assemble bill of materials and labor estimates for customer bids. Responsible for accurately determining the necessary equipment quantities, pricing and labor needed to complete the job according to company and customer requirements. Create and maintain database to increase productivity and accuracy using Dynamics CRM.   The salary range for this role is between $50,000 - $75,000, commensurate on relevant education, experience, and other job related factors. In addition, this position has an auto allowance of $500/month.

  • Experience with a CRM such as Salesforce.com is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong electrical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer network environment, Word and Excel.
  • Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail and reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to read blue prints and construction drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple types of end-user customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, along with proven ability to lead effective teams.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, either individually or in a team setting.
  • Strong team player.
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to learn new things quickly.
  • Experience working with critical communication systems.
  • Experience working on various security systems including access control and CCTV.

Education:

  • The Security Sales Engineer shall possess a two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education and 5 years related experience with a working knowledge of security and communications systems.
  • Must have experience with reviewing bid documents for purposes of evaluating and preparing comprehensive bill of materials and scope of work descriptions.
  • Must demonstrate computer literacy in Word & Outlook and be proficient with Excel. Industry certifications are a plus.
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills, be a team player and work well with other people.

Experience:

  • Five years minimum experience in Low-voltage and Security Sales.
  • Estimating for Low-voltage systems and Security Systems.
  • Product Certifications such as Avigilon, LenelS2, Milestone, DMP, and Edwards (Fire Alarm).
  • Dynamics and/or other CRM.

Work Environment:

  • Work environment can be an office or a customer site under construction.
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making decisions.
  • Must be adaptive to novel and diverse work problems and personalities on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Occasional high stress work may require dealing with customers/clients. Work hours can be long and varied, sometimes working late at night and starting early in the morning.
  • Requires traveling to jobsites in the Minnesota area as well as some out of town travel as needed per customer request.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Ability to navigate all types of construction sites.
  • Occasional over night travel requirement in the Midwest region, as needed.
  • Work with Management and Technical staff to interpret project specifications and drawings, determine system layout, and develop bill of materials with installation labor projections for a successful project.
  • Responsible for generating comprehensive project description and scope of work.
  • Assist in creating a comprehensive set of system drawings and project documentation including material lists for job installation and purchasing.
  • Create and maintain a database for use in estimating to increase productivity and accuracy.
  • Use system knowledge, design tools and available resources to assist in system design tasks as needed.
  • Customer service is a critical element for success. You are expected to manage your assigned accounts. As such, it is considered a part of your duties and responsibilities to resolve customer issues and respond to customer inquiries. This element of professional account management is crucial and is measured in increased sales volume and customer satisfaction.
  • Renewals: The negotiation of customer contract renewals is considered part of the duties and responsibilities of the sales position. Renewing of existing customer contracts and maintaining those relationships best serves the customer, the company and the account manager. Adding scope to maintenance contracts is encouraged.
