JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
The Audio Visual (AV) Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in the planning, design, and successful delivery of integrated AV systems. This position bridges the gap between sales, engineering, and installation teams by translating conceptual designs into accurate technical documents, schematics, and installation guides. The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000, commensurate on relevant education and job experience.
Responsible for reviewing and creating project information for accuracy of project implementation, ordering of parts, managing the bill of materials, and drawing package. Provides assistance to the Project Manager and technical staff throughout the duration of projects. This includes direct experience managing RFIs (Requests for Information), ASIs (Architects Supplemental Instructions), COs (Change Orders), and project closeout documentation.
The AV Project Engineer will utilize system knowledge, design tools, and available resources to assist the team with tasks for project opportunities as needed, including system design, project estimating, assisting the Project Manager with job walks, and participating in client meetings as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge
- Intermediate to advanced skill level for 2D AutoCAD 2014 is necessary for this position.
- Technical design experience in A/V, paging, sound masking, and intercom.
- Experience with Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure, Cisco.
- Must know Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Must know Bluebeam Revu Standard.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Must be able to maintain project engineering budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement multiple jobs allowing for the successful completion of each project by a specific due date.
- Strong team player with the ability to utilize resources to help complete projects in a timely manner.
- Works well under pressure.
3. Training and Education:
- AVIXA CTS required.
- AVIXA AV Design 1 Environment Online desired.
- AVIXA AV Design Math Online desired.
- AVIXA CTS-D desired (must obtain within one year of employment).
- Crestron DMC-E desired.
- QSC Certified Level 1 desired.
- Biamp Vocia Certification desired.
- OSHA 10 Construction desired (must obtain within 3 months of employment).
4. Experience:
- 25 years of experience in a professional construction/design environment on Audio Visual projects.
- Enough experience to react professionally to unexpected changes.
5. Continuing Education:
- The AV Project Engineering position requires continuing education throughout the employment duration.
- Onsite training, online training, webinars, conferences, new certifications, and industry-related events may be required as needed.
