ScienceLogic / Monitoring Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain ScienceLogic SL1 monitoring platform
• Design and implement monitoring for:

Infrastructure (servers, network, storage)

Middleware (e.g., MQ, WebSphere, Tomcat, Kafka, etc.)

Databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.)

Applications and services

• Create and maintain:

Device Templates

Dynamic Applications (standard and custom)

Monitoring policies, thresholds, and alerts

• Support device/application onboarding and discovery
• Ensure high-quality monitoring coverage across all layers
• Tune alerts and thresholds to reduce noise and improve incident quality
• Troubleshoot data collection and monitoring gaps
• Support integrations with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and event workflows
• Collaborate with application, middleware, and infrastructure teams

Requirements:

• 7+ years in monitoring / infrastructure / operations
• Experience with multi-layer monitoring (infra + middleware + application)
• Hands-on experience with ScienceLogic SL1
• Experience with monitoring multi-tier environments (infra middleware app)
• Understanding of monitoring concepts (Metrics, thresholds, alerting, dependency mapping)
• Operating Systems (Linux, Windows Server) knowledge
• Virtualization and cloud basics (VMware, AWS, Azure, GCP,...)
• Basic to good understanding of:

Middleware platforms (e.g., MQ, application servers, messaging systems)

DB Monitoring (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

• Intermediate scripting skills (Python, PowerShell or Bash)
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Proactive and improvement-oriented approach
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical mindset
• Fluency in English

Nice to Have:

• Experience with ServiceNow integration / ITSM tools
• Experience with event correlation / AIOps concepts
• Experience in large enterprise environments
