- Guides, develops, and challenges software features and major portions of team-owned software.

- Independently designs, develops, tests, and deploys software end to end.
- Clarifies requirements and turns them into actionable designs and plans.
- Understands a broad range of design approaches and applies them appropriately.
- Assists with coding and story estimates.
- Frequently reviews code and provides clear, constructive direction.
- Identifies and resolves root causes, mitigates immediate risks, and uses sound judgment to decide when to escalate.
Technical Complexity:
- Solves complex software problems.
- Produces solutions that are logical, testable, scalable, maintainable, efficient, and resilient.
- Fosters the importance of operational metrics and reliability.
- Actively raises the bar for security, quality, and operational excellence within the team.
- Makes strong technical and design trade-off decisions at the feature and system level.
Impact:
- Impacts software architecture, dependencies, performance, and the business value of the features and systems the team owns.
- Delivers work that improves both current outcomes and future engineering velocity.
Process Improvement:
- Leads projects to streamline team processes.
- Creates mechanisms to reduce churn during implementation.
- Can define, refine, and lead the team's SDLC.
- Improves engineering efficiency through clearer processes and better delivery practices.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, primarily with Java
- Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+), OOP, and design patterns
- Extensive experience with Spring / Spring Boot and RESTful APIs
- Proven experience leading technical teams or acting as a technical lead
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Cloud experience, preferably Google Cloud
