As R&D Director at BarthHaas Greenhouse, you will lead the planning and management of our innovation pipeline, oversee the project portfolio, and guide individual projects from concept to commercial readiness. You'll ensure efficient upscaling processes for manufacturing, creating opportunities to introduce novel and improved products to global markets. The Global R&D Director will lead the combined team across the US and UK, reporting directly to the Greenhouse CEO.
HOW YOU COULD CONTRIBUTE
- Lead cross-organisational innovation activities, initiatives, and projects, and contributes to the innovation strategy.
- Ensure successful completion of new and existing product and process development projects within the Greenhouse.
- Provides strategic direction and guidance to all R&D staff in their daily experiments and troubleshooting.
- Works closely with the Commercial Director and Innovation Planning Manager to ensure seamless delivery of projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Oversees and manages the UK and US R&D staff, including hiring, performance management, training, and professional development.
- Interfaces with other departments across the global BarthHaas and Haas Groups as well as Customers.
- Identifies and highlights critical intellectual property around new products, processes, technologies, and applications.
- Creates an environment that facilitates new idea generation and collection.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Masters degree (equivalent or higher degree) in a Food Science / Technology, Organic Chemistry, or a related field. PhD preferred.
- Managerial experience and leadership skills.
- Experience in working in cross-functional teams.
- International / Intercultural experience (preferred UK, US and Germany).
- Demonstrated understanding of the Brewing, Beverage, Ingredients and or consumer goods (FMCG) Product Development Business.
- Solid track record of successful new product development and commercialisation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A customer-oriented mindset.
