Reporting to: Production Shift Manager
The Opportunity
We are pleased to invite internal applications for the role of Area Leader within our Manufacturing team at BarthHaas UK.
The Area Leader role is a key first-line leadership position within production. You will take ownership of a defined group of process areas, acting as the main point of contact for operators on shift and providing hands-on technical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the process, solving problems in real time, supporting colleagues on the shop floor, and helping to develop a flexible and skilled team.
Process Areas
Area Leaders will be assigned to one of the following process groups:
Process Area 1: Aroma Blending, VTA (MD), CC / Columns, Rotary Evaporation, Still Room (solvent/myrcene still), SD
Process Area 2: ORE, Spectrum, Prysma, HD (large and small plants), HopAid
Process Area 3: Isohop, Tetra, Redihop, AOE, Betastab
What You'll Be Responsible For
As an Area Leader, you will:
- Act as the process specialist for your assigned area, providing technical expertise and on-the-job training to build operator capability and flexibility.
- Support the Shift Manager with day-to-day coordination of people and activities.
- Proactively troubleshoot process and quality issues to minimise downtime and production losses.
- Ensure production samples are submitted to the laboratory on time and follow up results promptly to avoid delays.
- Escalate any quality or process deviations and support accurate completion of processing and quality documentation.
- Contribute to CAPA investigations and root cause analysis in area of control, implementing practical and sustainable correct actions.
- Champion a strong EHS culture, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, audits, and checks, and always leading by example.
- Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities to improve OEE, efficiency, and throughput.
- Drive 5S and Lean practices within your area to improve organisation, safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Attend and apply learning from required technical, management, and personal development training
