We are seeking a skilled Lead Material Engineer to oversee corrosion control and material selection for a prominent Oil & Gas EPC project. This role requires extensive experience in material engineering and corrosion control to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead corrosion control and material selection activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements and international standards.
  • Develop and review corrosion control strategies, material selection reports, and cathodic protection system designs.
  • Oversee the preparation of material specifications, data sheets, and procurement packages for pipeline components.
  • Evaluate and recommend materials and coatings suitable for various environmental conditions and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards related to materials and corrosion (e.g., NACE, API, ASME).
  • Provide technical input for resolving corrosion-related issues during the design and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate corrosion control and material engineering solutions into the overall project design.
  • Review and approve contractor submissions related to corrosion and materials engineering.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure material quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Support HAZOP and risk assessment studies with respect to corrosion and material risks.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12-15 years of experience in corrosion control and material engineering, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
  • Proven experience in a PMC environment is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in corrosion modeling and material selection tools.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., NACE, API, ASME, ISO).
  • Expertise in cathodic protection systems and coatings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for effective team management and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
