Mission:

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of vessel equipment and machinery according to International conventions and regulations, Flag state requirements, Class requirements, local requirements and regulations and Company specific instructions
    Whenever required, act as MS (Maintenance Supervisor) as defined in IMO resolution A.1079(28)

Tasks:

  • Ensure all workspace technical and maintenance activities are carried out consistently with Company policies and in accordance to Vessel Management System;
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all machinery on board;
  • Ensure that permit to work system and relevant isolation procedures are understood and observed in own Department;
  • Be safety minded during in all works and behaviours, use compulsory protective equipment and ensure the same for subordinates;
  • Carry out own duties according to the Emergency Preparedness Action Plan;
  • Notify the Management on board immediately of any defects which may affect ships safety and operations capabilities or put at risk the marine environment;
  • Report to the Management on board and support the investigation of accidents, near-misses, hazardous and unsafe act/conditions, HSE non-conformities and other matters with implications for the safe operation of the Vessel;
  • Take actions to avoid pollution to the marine environment;
  • Ensure that before any work on high pressure system is started, a proper investigation is carried out, precautions are taken and the work permit is signed;
  • Conduct special safety meetings with technical crew whenever necessary;
  • Be well-informed about all relevant work and safety procedures and the Operator, applying them and promoting their implementation;
  • Be well-informed about environmental aspect on site, full knowledge of environmental procedures, applying them and promoting their implementation;
  • Ensure good housekeeping in own working area and on the rig in general;
  • Maintain working areas, tools, equipment and safety harnesses in a safe, clean, tidy and orderly manner;
  • Ensure on the job training strategy is fulfilled for subordinates and act as tutor for new personnel
    Instruct all personnel assigned to him of their duties and responsibilities and of any special safety and environmental precaution to be taken prior to start up any work;
  • Propose to Vessel Management necessary reviews on the operation manual when changes to equipment or standard operating procedures take place;
  • Ensure that Oil Record Book and Engine Log Book are accurately filled and up to date
    Issue standing order to watch keeping engine-room personnel;
  • When required, fulfils all duties according to IMO Resolution A.1079(28) on a MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit); 
  • Check periodically the efficiency of the safety equipment and devices present on the rig site
    Ensure that the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) is rigorously implemented, in order to survey, test and maintain all rig machinery/equipment, including Emergency and Safety systems and all Corporate owned/rented equipment which may be operated on/from the rig, in accordance with statutory, class, Flag state, company requirements and standards; 
  • Issue and execute working/maintenance instructions for vessel equipment to maintenance and engine room crew; 
  • Maintain vessel technical library and equipment user manual; 
  • Ensure that efficient and timely ordering of adequate resources and spares has been done for all vessel marine and drilling equipment; 
  • Order, in consultation with the Vessel Management, consumables bunkers and fresh water for the Vessel Issue hand-over reports to own relieve and copies shore based management as per distribution list; 
  • Issue, maintain and complete all documents and reports related to the engine department, as written instructions to all watch-keeping engineers, monthly technical report, records of periodical and emergency maintenance's performed; 
  • Be well-informed about all the classification society and authorities rules and regulation applicable to own area of responsibility; 
  • Apply MOC (Management of change) procedure and ensure all personnel within responsibility are aware of the requirements for change control.
