Chief Officer / General Cargo / 22.07

As Chief Officer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the deck department and cargo handling activities. This includes supervising cargo operations, maintaining stability and ballasting, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company procedures. You will work closely with the Master to ensure the vessels readiness, safety, and operational performance throughout the voyage.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily deck operations, including navigation watch

• Prepare and execute cargo plans, stowage, and ballasting operations

• Ensure proper maintenance and inspection of deck equipment and safety gear

• Monitor compliance with safety and environmental standards

• Supervise deck crew and coordinate training as needed

• Assist in voyage planning and navigational safety

• Act as Safety Officer onboard

Minimum Requirements:

• Proven experience on coaster-type vessels

• Practical knowledge of cargo operations, loading plans, and ballasting

• Valid STCW certification and Chief Officer license

• A very good level of English is essential (spoken and written)
