Mission:

  • The resource will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of wooden structures, including offices, cabins, and other areas on the vessel. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Tasks:

  • Perform the carpentry works in accordance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Follow daily instructions given by Chief Mate.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on wooden structures, including offices, cabins, and other areas on the Ship.
  • Construct, install, and repair wooden fixtures and fittings such as doors, windows, furniture, and partitions.
  • Ensure the works are carried out even according to project drawings.
  • Inspect and assess the condition of wooden structures and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Verify all the equipment and tools are in good and safe operating conditions and report any anomalies to Chief Mate.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Ensure coordination with the adjacent works to minimize activity and eliminate unsafe conditions.
  • Follow the permit-to-work statement.
  • Ensure the housekeeping of the work location.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably but not necessary with experience in marine or shipboard environments.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical condition and the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of the English.

Education and Certification:

  • Certification in carpentry or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant safety certifications and training.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires working onboard a ship, which may involve extended periods at Sea
  • The candidate must be able to adapt to the unique working conditions of a marine environment, including varying weather conditions and confined spaces.
