About the job Winch Operator / Offshore / 21.7.26
We are looking for experienced offshore personnel with proven expertise in winch and anchor handling operations. Candidates should have a minimum of three (3) years of offshore experience as Winch Operator onboard moored S-Lay Barges or Semi-Submersible Pipelay Vessels with hands-on experience operating winches during marine, pipelay, mooring, and anchor handling activities. Applicants must hold valid offshore certifications and demonstrate a strong commitment to HSE standards, safe working practices, and effective teamwork in a multicultural offshore environment. Candidates should be capable of operating anchor winch systems, supporting vessel positioning activities, and coordinating offshore deck operations.
Mission:
Serve on the bridge assuring the pipelaying operations
Operate on the control of the anchors in accordance to the tracks determined
Carry out deck marine activities on deck
Tasks:
Report to Chief Mate on duty
Ability and capability to manage winches operations
Carry out deck marine activities on deck
Skills:
- Capability to perform general maintenance, repair of the vessel such scraping, cleaning priming and painting.
- Knowledge of the main risks during the operation activities and safe working and environmental protection procedures/practices & rules to be applied. Knowledge of adequate Personal Protective Equipment - purpose, use and maintenance. Knowledge and the correct use of Permit to Work system.
- Capability to manage and understand the risks of anchor handling tug activities and mooring/unmooring operations including mooring analysis, anchor pattern, drawings, calculation of anchor wires catenary using designed software and possible MOC. Knowledge of anchor handling operations limitation and anchor-handling equipment, including anchor handlers and anchor winches as well as types of anchors used in relation to seabed conformity. Knowledge of correct installation and removal of mid line buoy and yokohamas to/from anchor wire. Capability to manage the anchor handling tug activities, deployment of anchors, buoys, chaser pennants and piggy bank anchors, processing anchor planning deployments an relative method to abandon the anchors, capability to monitor communications and anchor movements. Knowledge of different methods of anchors recovering modes in case of pennant buoy/buoy failure (chaser hook).
- Capability to manage the Anchor winch control room and to coordinate operations connected with the anchor winches in order to perform pipelay, pipe recovering and lay down pipes or stop and keep the vessel in the position as required by the operations.
Mandatory Requirements: Minimum (3) years' sea experience as Winch Operator onboard moored S-Lay Barges or Semi-Submersible Pipelay Vessels. Experience with multi-point spread mooring systems (specifically 8, 10, or 12-point configurations) and coordinating all 10+ winches simultaneously..
