Our client is an ultra luxury resort, recognized globally as a hospitality leader in the Maldives. As a Chief Engineer, you are responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the engineering functions, including but not limited to managing all engineering activities within the resort according to the departmental standards.

Requirements:

  • Seven years or more of experience in an engineering role in a five-star luxury brand in the Maldives.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position in an ultra luxury resort brands.
  • Degree in Engineering in either Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Extensive knowledge of the luxury resort operations.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to effectively communicate with all levels of colleagues.
  • The ability to keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Work experience in the Maldives is essential.

Responsibilities:

- At any time ensure and guarantee the safety and smooth operation of the vital services such as the electric generator and the water plant.

- Direct the maintenance staff on small repairs, such as patching drywall, fixing faulty wiring, or unclogging drains.

- Respect, and ensure utmost care of the environment.

- Co-ordinate and as requested, supervise special projects and employment of outside contractors.

- Establish an effective engineering stores control procedure and monitor closely the consumption of materials, parts and inventory.

- Develop and maintain a complete set of operational procedures for all major systems and equipment.

- Develop and maintain a building maintenance program for guest rooms and public areas.

- Maintain energy efficiency for all equipment and recommend to management ways and means, including replacement of equipment to improve energy efficiency.

- Maintain a comprehensive library of manuals, part lists, plans and drawings of all operation areas, systems and equipment.

- Assume the full responsibility for the cost-effectiveness of the engineering department.

- Allocate and countersign all invoices chargeable to the engineering department budget before being processed and charged.

- Establish an effective system for recording and reporting all utilities consumption in the resort.

- Implement a department training program to ensure that all of the engineering staff possess the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

- Delegate duties and responsibilities to other staff in the engineering department.

- Select and recruit in conjunction with the personnel department suitable staff for the engineering operation.

- Co-ordinate with General Manager for full responsibility of all fire safety systems and equipment.

- Fulfill the responsibilities as Manager on Duty as required.

- Lead the engineering team by being exemplary.

- Organize and participate in the weekly fire drill.
