Our client is a luxury 5-star international hotel in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. They are seeking an accomplished Director of Sales and Marketing to lead and develop the Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams, drive commercial performance, and deliver sustainable revenue growth across all market segments.

Requirements:

  • Currently holding a Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) position, with a proven track record of driving commercial performance in the hospitality industry.
  • Extensive experience within international hotel brands, demonstrating progressive career growth and consistent success in sales, marketing, and revenue generation.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience managing and developing multidisciplinary commercial teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management functions.
  • Solid understanding of hotel sales strategies, market segmentation, business development, key account management, and revenue optimization.
  • Previous experience with globally recognized hospitality brands is highly preferred; exposure to leading international hotel groups will be considered advantageous.
  • Prior experience in the Asia-Pacific region is strongly preferred, with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics, customer behavior, and distribution channels.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with property leadership and regional corporate teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans that drive market share, revenue growth, and brand positioning.
  • Culturally adaptable, commercially driven, and capable of leading high-performing teams within a dynamic international environment.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the property's overall sales, marketing, and revenue strategies to achieve revenue targets, market share growth, and profitability objectives.
  • Lead and manage the Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management teams, ensuring alignment of commercial strategies and operational excellence across all functions.
  • Identify new business opportunities, strengthen existing client relationships, and expand market presence across key segments including corporate, leisure, MICE, wholesale, and group business.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, customer behavior, and economic conditions to formulate effective commercial strategies and maximize revenue performance.
  • Drive proactive sales initiatives, strategic account management, and business development activities to generate sustainable revenue growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and regional leadership team to develop and implement commercial plans aligned with the property's business objectives.
  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing campaigns, brand positioning initiatives, public relations activities, and promotional programs to enhance market visibility and brand awareness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, industry partners, corporate accounts, travel trade partners, event organizers, and local business communities.
  • Represent the property at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and client engagements to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.
  • Monitor sales performance, forecasting accuracy, distribution channels, and revenue metrics, implementing corrective actions where necessary to optimize results.
  • Ensure exceptional customer engagement throughout the sales cycle, fostering long-term partnerships and high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Manage the departmental budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and a strong return on investment across all sales and marketing activities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop commercial team members, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Human Resources on talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, and leadership development initiatives within the commercial division.
  • Provide regular commercial performance reports, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to support informed business decisions.
