About the job Mid-level FTTH Network Planner
Mid-level FTTH Network Planner
If you are tired of messy GIS records and contractors cutting corners, this role puts you in charge of fixing exactly that.
We are Badger & Bird Talent, representing a growing client who needs a strict quality gatekeeper between contractor planning, the authorised map, and the as-built network.
The salary is up to R400K per annum for a full-time, office-based role with potential remote work flexibility.
What is in it for you?
- Clear career growth: The business is scaling fast, offering a direct path to a Senior Planner role.
- Real ownership: You dictate network planning standards and hold contractors accountable to submission standards.
- Design opportunities: Step up to originate or amend network designs when internal designs are needed or contractor plans fall short.
- High impact: Your attention to detail directly dictates the quality of the network inherited by Maintenance and Operations.
The day to day
- Review all network plans submitted by contractors against build specifications before any plan is authorised.
- Identify specification non-conformances like routing, plant placement, and splitter hierarchy, returning plans for clear correction.
- Upload approved plans to VetroFibre Map to ensure the planned network in GIS has the correct geometry, attributes, and layering.
- Capture and maintain premises data, ensuring each premise is correctly placed and linked to the network.
- Compare authorised plans with contractor as-builts to confirm the planning matches what was actually built on site.
What you need to bring
- 2 to 4 years of experience in FTTH plan review, GIS capture, premises data capture, or as-built quality assurance.
- A solid working understanding of GPON FTTH architecture, including OLT, feeder, distribution, splitters, closures, and drops.
- Proficiency in VetroFibre Map and the ability to read contractor drawings across CAD, shapefile, KML/KMZ, and PDF formats.
- The flexibility to work extended hours when review backlogs or monthly as-built backlogs need clearing.
Interview Process
Expect a straightforward process with two to three meetings. You will start with a discussion with HR and Ops, followed by a meeting with the line manager, and wrap up with a final conversation with members of the Exco.
