Job Title: Head of Finance
Location: Mexico City (Hybrid/On-site)
Company: International Financial Institution operating in Mexico.
Purpose of the Role:
The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading the company's financial strategy, ensuring financial stability and growth while complying with local regulations. This role will be key in strategic decision-making, overseeing all financial functions, from planning and budget control to funding management and financial statement issuance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in financial reporting.
- Manage treasury operations, optimizing cash management and funding to ensure liquidity and financial strength.
- Supervise the company's accounting, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial information.
- Oversee budget preparation, financial projections, and credit reserves management.
- Implement cost control and optimization strategies to ensure business profitability.
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance, aligning operations with local regulations and international financial standards.
- Coordinate the preparation and timely presentation of financial statements.
- Lead labor relations and payroll management, ensuring compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with banks, investors, and other funding sources to ensure adequate company financing.
- Collaborate with other strategic areas for financial decision-making aligned with business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related fields (postgraduate degree or certifications such as CPA, CFA, ACCA, MBA are desirable).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in senior financial roles within regulated financial institutions in Mexico.
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting regulations in Mexico, including IFRS and banking regulations.
- Experience in treasury management, funding, financial planning, and budget control.
- Familiarity with financial institution accounting and credit reserve management.
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
- Experience leading financial teams and working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in financial and accounting tools (ERP, Advanced Excel, Power BI is desirable).
