Software Engineer — Full Stack
About the job Software Engineer — Full Stack
Role purpose
Build and improve secure, reliable business applications as a versatile full-stack engineer. Work across user interfaces, backend services, databases, integrations, automated testing and deployments, while progressively becoming a long-term owner of the systems delivered by DTA.
Key responsibilities
- Implement complete features across frontend, backend, APIs and relational databases, including tests, documentation and production readiness.
- Participate in requirements clarification, estimation, solution design, code reviews and iterative demonstrations.
- Write readable, maintainable, secure code; diagnose defects and address performance or data-integrity problems.
- Create and consume APIs; work with authentication, permissions, validation, logging and integrations.
- Use Git, automated build/test workflows and Docker-based development environments; assist with controlled deployments and rollback.
- Support database changes, migrations, query optimization, backups and recovery drills under approved procedures.
- Participate in monitoring, incident diagnosis, bug fixes and planned maintenance of live applications.
- Learn through mentoring, pairing and independent problem-solving; document what is learned and share knowledge with the wider team.
- Contribute to both interface quality and backend robustness; rotate across projects and technical responsibilities rather than becoming confined to one layer.
- Take progressively greater ownership of applications, technical decisions and operational support as senior contracts approach completion.
- At least 3 years of professional experience delivering real web applications or business systems.
- Working proficiency in a modern frontend framework (React preferred or Node.js), JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, HTML and CSS.
- Practical backend development experience, ideally C#/.NET or a comparable framework, including REST APIs and authentication.
- Excellent SQL skills: joins, schema basics, constraints, transactions and safe data access.
- Competent Git usage, debugging, code review participation and writing meaningful tests.
- Understanding of common web security risks, data validation, authorization and secure handling of credentials.
- Ability to describe personal contributions to shipped applications and independently deliver reasonably scoped features.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, ownership and willingness to learn unfamiliar parts of the stack.
- React + TypeScript, ASP.NET Core / C#, PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
- Docker, CI/CD, Linux or Windows hosting, logs/monitoring and deployment experience.
- Experience with integration projects, background jobs, document processing or workflow applications.
- Automated unit/integration testing, accessibility and responsive design.
- Practical AI or LLM API integration in an application, document processing, retrieval-augmented generation, background jobs or workflow automation.
- Responsible use of AI-assisted development tools with independent verification of outputs.
- Curious and coachable, but already capable of independent engineering work.
- Takes ownership of bugs and follows issues through testing and resolution.
- Communicates blockers early and welcomes review without defensiveness.
- Enjoys learning across the entire stack and documenting operational knowledge.
