Fairbrother is always on the lookout for experienced and skilled Leading Hands to join their team in both Tasmania and Victoria. As a Leading Hand at Fairbrother, youll play a crucial role in driving the success of our projects and ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise health and safety, ensuring a zero Lost Time Incident (LTI) culture on-site.
  • Identify and address hazards, reducing risks and preventing workplace incidents.
  • Implement quality control techniques and adhere to Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, respecting the surrounding area.
  • Lead by example, upholding Fairbrothers values and vision.
  • Supervise and guide the on-site team and apprentices, fostering a positive, productive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including Project Managers, Estimators, and Site Managers.
  • Collaborate with the Foreperson in task allocation and overseeing construction work according to project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, and all legislative requirements.
  • Actively participate in training and development programs to continuously enhance your skills.
  • Seek improvements and implement best practices for a competitive edge in all projects.

Position Criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a commercial construction carpenter.
  • Thorough knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
  • Certificate III in Carpentry/Carpentry & Joinery or a relevant Trade Certificate.
  • Valid Car Drivers License, Provide First Aid, Provide CPR, White Card, and Work Safely at Heights certifications.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach, demonstrating precision in trade work and leadership.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact at all levels.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy for handling administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to adapt to varying project needs and work well under pressure.
