Axia Recruitment are working with a well known Government agency in Launceston to find a Data Migration Specialist to assist with a high-priority transformational project that involves the implementation of a corporate application solution that supports the ICT strategy.
The Opportunity:
Join this team on an 18 month contract from February 2024 - August 2025 and become a key player in the success of the Corporate Application Replacement Project (CARP), a high-priority transformational initiative that aims to implement a cutting-edge corporate application solution supporting our ICT Strategy. As a Data Migration Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data landscape of their future-state cloud-based solution.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Data Migration Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Analysing data migration requirements and collaborating with the Data Team to define and design migration solutions.
- Establishing templates, testing processes, and validating data migration procedures.
- Developing an audit framework for production data verification.
- Designing and implementing a data warehouse solution for historical data in consultation with the Data Working Group.
- Evaluating the current system to determine the best approach for moving data, using scripting, ETL, or other migration tools.
- Organizing data into usable formats and building repeatable solutions for extracting data into provided templates/formats.
- Assessing the quality of data in collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
- Identifying potential issues and resolving them with input from the project team and key stakeholders.
Success Criteria:
Success in this role will be defined by the development of a robust data migration framework in consultation with the Vendor, Project Manager, and Data Team, as well as the successful migration of data within project timeframes.

Position Specific:
- Demonstrated experience in data modeling and legacy system analysis.
- Experience with data migration projects involving SQL/Oracle.
- Strong experience in data production and reporting.
- Ability to articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or 5 years' experience working in complex data environments.
- Project management skills are highly desirable.
