Position Details:
Meander Valley Council is seeking motivated and skilled Civil Engineers to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing design drawings, specifications, and project plans for civil engineering work related to both the construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure, including roads, footpaths, bridges, and stormwater drainage. You will work closely with the Engineering Team to deliver effective solutions that serve both the Council and the community.
What You Need to Succeed:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of training, skills, and experience.
- A passion for advancing your career within Local Government engineering.
- An understanding of local government infrastructure and technical requirements is highly regarded.
What We Will Offer You:
- A permanent, full-time position based at Councils offices in Westbury, just 25 minutes from Launceston.
- A competitive salary range of $77,930 to $91,646, negotiable based on your experience.
- A 19-day month, offering a rostered day off for full-time employees.
- Superannuation at 15% (3.5% above the required superannuation guarantee).

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing design documentation and specifications for civil engineering projects.
- Undertaking project tasks including costings, timeframes, resources, and reporting.
- Assessing development applications and inspecting infrastructure works.
- Engaging in stakeholder negotiations with consultants and contractors.
- Assisting with asset management and GIS updates.
- Preparing reports for Council meetings and workshops.
Selection Criteria:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent training, skills, and experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer relations.
- High-level computer skills for infrastructure design and administration.
- Ability to negotiate infrastructure asset standards with consultants and contractors.
- Valid motor vehicle licence.
