AI Solutions Architect

 Job Description:

We are seeking an AI Strategy and Implementation Specialist to lead and support the integration of Artificial Intelligence technologies within our operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in market research, technical evaluation, and strategic implementation of AI solutions, coupled with strong analytical and documentation capabilities.

Location: This is a Hybrid role. Primary locations are 9000 Rockville Pike, Building 31C, and 5601 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD. Note: In-person meetings may be required for remote staff once per year and would take place within 50 miles of one of the primary locations. Local candidates to the DC, MD, VA area are preferable.

Type: Full-time

Clearance Requirements: Candidate must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance. US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) required. This position is unable to sponsor H1B or Visa Holders.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thought Leadership: Collaborate with leadership to identify and evaluate opportunities for integrating AI technologies into business processes. Research and address potential ethical and legal challenges associated with using AI in a government setting.
  • Artificial Intelligence Platform: Conduct market research and technical assessments of various AI platforms. Lead preliminary ("alpha") testing and recommend AI platforms that best fit our strategic needs.
  • Critical Thinking & Analysis: Utilize critical thinking to solve complex problems and analyze user requirements. Break down issues into manageable parts for discussion and consideration by development teams or stakeholders.
  • Digital Whiteboarding Tools: Employ digital whiteboarding tools such as Visio, Adobe XD, PowerPoint, and Figma to facilitate discussions and gather feedback in virtual meetings. Adapt tools and strategies in real-time based on user input to optimize collaborative processes.
  • DevOps: Manage and administer work item management platforms, particularly Azure DevOps. Ensure that work items are kept up to date, run queries, and lead meetings to maintain team alignment and project tracking.
  • Documentation & User Guides: Create and maintain clear, useful documentation and user guides for applications. These resources should support both fellow developers and staff in understanding and utilizing developed solutions effectively.
  • Communication Skills / Collaboration: Engage in active communication and collaboration with teams to refine and advance project ideas. Act as a liaison among stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and implementation of application designs.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of professional experience in AI, with significant exposure to project management and federal projects, preferably within healthcare or aging research sectors.
  • Proven expertise in AI architecture and system integration.
  • Strong familiarity with federal IT security and compliance guidelines.
  • Proficient in using Azure DevOps for work tracking and project management.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, adept at engaging both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage critical thinking and problem-solving tasks in high-pressure environments.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in the public sector or on government projects.
  • Relevant certifications in AI technologies and project management.
