Salary: $140 - $145K
Clearance Required: Active Secret or above
Job Responsibilities:
Principal Accountabilities:
- Work closely with both government and contractor staff to meticulously document the current USSS infrastructure with documentation to include device configurations, routing specifications, protocol distributions, and procedural checklists.
- Provide comprehensive network technical support, assist with specific network-related tasks and carry out regular maintenance operations to ensure optimal network functionality and security
- Participate in planning, implementing, and managing network IT refresh and modernization activities, in routine engineering meetings with network peers, cybersecurity, servers support, desktops support, government customers, and vendors.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and other technical documentation, which requires government review and approval.
- Provide high-level (tier-3 or tier-4) technical support to address and resolve complex network, system, or end-user related issues, provide after-hours support too.
- Provide daily operational support, maintain a log of all issues and resolutions in the USSS ticketing system
- Produce after-action reports following significant troubleshooting efforts

- n the innovation lab and schedule and conduct new deployments
- Schedule and conduct CONUS/OCONUS/MAN/LAN-wide refreshes and evaluate replacement technologies and provide feedback for refresh as well as configure and test new or replacement gear
- Coordinate schedules with Government counterparts for shipping of gear and for testing and turn-up.
- Enhance network services and support capabilities by maintaining high network uptime to support uninterrupted Secret Service operations
- Deliver technical expertise in network-related projects, including upgrades and integrations ensuring alignment with organization strategic goals.
- Design secure and maintain robust network systems that support the agencys core missions of protection and investigation.
- Provide weekend support for tasks such as cutovers and system maintenances when deemed necessary.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge/Requirements:
- Preferred Juniper certification.
- Must demonstrate proven competence in network engineering and technical support and be capable of performing at the highest levels in dynamic and secure environments
- Subject Matter Expert in network hardware & software configurations and support
- Possess 15 years experience in troubleshooting & supporting end-user and/or systems requiring timely solutions.
- Possess 15 years of demonstrated expertise in project planning and best practices setups, change management procedures, system design and configuration planning practices and outage analysis and streamline incident resolution.
- Possess 10 years familiarity with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security standards and able to incorporate into IT solutions.
- Possess 10 years of demonstrated expertise in LAN, WAN, MAN, load balancing & Wireless administration.
- Possess 10 years demonstrated knowledge utilizing network diagnostic and management tools to include packet and traffic analysis network environments.
- Possess 10 years demonstrated working knowledge of both Verizon and AT&T WAN (MPLS, vBNS), escalation and circuit management processes.
- Possess 5 years specialized experience with up-to-date training in Juniper, Riverbed, F5, and Nutanix products.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical communications with a strong desire to achieve customer satisfaction; will work alongside USSS staff from the Network, Cyber Security and/or Server branches to provide technical support.
- Demonstrated expertise in Software Defined Networking product and support, and expertise in hyperconverged network product and support.
- Demonstrated experience as a technical writer with excellent documentation skills
Place of Performance: USSS Headquarters and occasionally at other USSS facilities located within the Washington D.C. Metro area.
