VACANCY: Legal and Corporate Affairs Assistant.
REPORTING TO: Legal and Corporate Governance Manager.
LOCATION: Mauritius, Grand Baie.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, proofreading, and finalizing contracts, agreements, and SLAs, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and regularly update the legal and corporate governance database, including contracts, agreements, resolutions, and corporate documentation.
- Coordinate and organize compliance and KYC documentation, maintaining the Corporate KYC Database and ensuring readiness for internal audits and external regulatory requests.
- Act as liaison between the company and external stakeholders including legal advisors, accountants, regulatory bodies, and the company secretary.
- Assist in preparing, coordinating, and documenting Board Meetings, including creating agendas, minutes, and following up on action items.
- Ensure company documentation such as contracts, letterheads, internal templates, and corporate communications are accurate and updated.
- Support risk management processes by assisting in identifying, documenting, and assessing business risks, and maintaining comprehensive risk registers.
- Coordinate and maintain risk assessment documentation and support the ongoing development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct research and gather information to support compliance reviews, risk assessments, governance audits, and other regulatory initiatives.
- Assist in the continuous review and update of business risk frameworks, ensuring timely identification and communication of potential risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in company documentation including risk-related documentation and compliance registers.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English and French.
- Excellent organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, DOCUSIGN, and database management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage deadlines.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing issues related to compliance and risk management.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The following is essential for this position:
- Tertiary qualification in Law, Corporate Governance or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in legal or corporate governance roles.
- Proven experience in drafting legal documents and managing compliance databases.
- Familiarity with risk management processes and frameworks are advantageous.
- Knowledge of French, South African, Irish, and Mauritian legal frameworks beneficial.
- Previous experience in aviation or multinational corporate environments advantageous.
