VACANCY: Senior UAS Instructor.

REPORTING TO: UAS Chief Instructor.

LOCATION: South Africa, Durban.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide professional UAS flight and ground instruction in accordance with the TPM and all SACAA regulations and procedures.
  • Develop course content, prepare schedules, maintain records, and ensure the course standards, training requirements and objectives are met by each student in each course.
  • Develop new, and standardising our existing, UAS ground school material.
  • Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned.
  • Liaise closely with other training organisations and submit recommendations which may serve to enhance the companys capability and/or procedures.
  • Arrange any online courseware material licenses and other applicable books or training materials needed by new students.
  • Ensure that training files and complete documentation are maintained for each student.
  • Tailor the instruction with flight safety as a priority, while ensuring that the student is a more confident UAS pilot at the conclusion of the training.
  • Demonstrate and perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks.
  • Ensure that complete pre- and post-flight logs and related documentation are maintained.
  • Demonstrate how to troubleshoot equipment issues and analyse weather forecasts, etc.
  • Safekeeping and general care of drones and other company assets, including monitoring drones during flight.
  • Attend meetings and complete other duties/projects assigned.
  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required.

  • Proficient in oral and written English, with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
  • Adapt to a variety of teaching situations and learning styles.
  • Impart excitement and enthusiasm into teaching.
  • Proven ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Familiar with company policies, TPM, and SACAA regulations.
  • Skilled in administrative tasks related to student management.
  • Contributes to and promotes a climate of multicultural appreciation.
  • Strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to meet rigid deadlines.
  • Experience with various software platforms, including MS Office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The following is essential for this position:

  • Holder of a SACAA UAS License with the following ratings:
  • Instructor Rating
  • BVLOS Rating
  • FW Rating
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience working in a technical UAS team.
  • Skilled in operating various UAS types in diverse weather, lighting conditions, and both VLOS and BVLOS environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation theory, regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Well experienced in UAS training delivery, including classroom and practical teaching experience.
