Summary

Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, fixtures, jigs, gating / risering of DISA Vertical and Georg Fisher Horizontal patterns.

Hours: 6:30am-3:00pm (1st shift)

Travel: 15-20%

Essential Functions

  • Review and interpret engineering documentation such as prints, schematics, technical layouts, and system-generated reports
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to establish procedures, troubleshoot issues, and exchange technical guidance
  • Analyze customer designs, specifications, manuals, and related documentation to assess feasibility, cost impact, and long-term support requirements
  • Define system elements or guide product changes to ensure alignment with performance and engineering requirements
  • Apply engineering principles to research, design, assess, install, operate, and sustain mechanical equipment, processes, and systems
  • Lead cross-functional investigations into casting defects and scrap, and develop corrective and mitigation plans
  • Utilize CAD tools, including CATIA, to support design and evaluation efforts
  • Communicate customer feedback, issues, and performance concerns to design engineering teams
  • Design and build gating systems for tooling using 3D models and technical drawings
  • Execute trials, monitor results, document findings, and present conclusions to stakeholders
  • Recommend enhancements to existing or proposed designs to improve performance or quality
  • Create and validate alternative design concepts and processing approaches to determine feasibility and required modifications
  • Use hand and power tools to fabricate gating, riser, and runner systems
  • Provide oversight or guidance to production staff, technicians, technologists, and engineering personnel as required
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand or learn MAGMA simulation software
  • Maintain knowledge of ferrous microstructures, layout techniques, and measurement tools
  • Develop performance criteria for engineering initiatives and product development efforts
  • Conduct audits of non-conforming materials internally and at customer locations
  • Support tooling evaluation and maintenance activities across all company facilities
  • Contribute to and meet departmental and company objectives related to health and safety performance

Skills: Microsoft Office, Auto CAD / CATIA / 3D Modeling, Magmasoft – preferred but not required

Education: Bachelors Degree (four year college or technical school) or equivalent experience

Experience: Two to four years related experience
