Job Title: General Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Sumter, South Carolina
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Pay: $30.50 - $34.50 per hour
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated General Maintenance Mechanic to provide role model leadership in compliance management and environmental health and safety (EH&S) excellence. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Management System Participant
- Lead efforts to achieve compliance initiatives and follow all relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in required training and assist in training others.
- Exhibit behavior consistent with organizational values in all interactions.
- Raise issues and concerns through supervision.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) System Participant
- Conform to environmental, health, and safety requirements, promoting personal and team safety.
- Identify workplace hazards and take action to mitigate risks.
- Participate in the SOAR process by identifying unsafe behaviors.
Routine Maintenance Participant
- Perform maintenance work according to the Routine Maintenance work process.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and document work notifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work activities and time against work orders.
- Repair and maintain equipment systems using hand and power tools.
- Complete self-planned maintenance and identify material needs for tasks.
- Participate in continuous improvement by completing Maintenance Job Evaluations.
Expectations:
- Complete work assignments in a timely and efficient manner, keeping supervisors informed of any issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers and foster teamwork.
- Follow all safety protocols and plant procedures.
- Engage in ongoing learning of plant equipment and processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Must be able to operate maintenance equipment safely.
