JOB PURPOSE

Civil Works Supervisor supervises all civil works in accordance with the Company's objective, policies, and standards. The Job holder ensures good condition of all infrastructures such as roads, bridges, airfield, wharf, air terminal and ROW by supervising the road maintenance team. He/She works principally outdoor under hot and wet climate conditions directing and coordinating the activities of a permanent team of 40 persons and ad-hoc manpower.

Facilities: Responsible for about 100 km of road and service track, 20 bridges, 63 km of ROW, 1 airfield, 1 wharf and accommodation facilities at Client Work Location.

Personnel Supervised: Permanent team of 40 persons + ad hoc manpower


Safety, Security, Health and Environment and Compliance

  • Ensure that all SSHE rules are well known, understood, and adhered to. Make sure that the whole team is well
    informed, understood and adhered to the SSHE rules in general and according to their specific job scope.
  • Direct and supervise the assigned personnel in daily basis to achieve safe working environment.
  • Maintain records, issue work reports. Records on TBT, TRA and incident reports are made and monitored continuously. The records and reports are used as tools to refresh the workers knowledge on safety information and to avoid accidents.
  • Promotes accurate reporting and feedback, involves, and motivates all personnel on Near-misses safety anomaly
    and incidents reporting, exemplarities SSHE behavior and compliance.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be the company civil works specialist on site.
  • To ensure good and safe conditions of all infrastructure facilities.
  • To execute all civil works in a safe way, to respect the environment and minimize impact of the works on the local communities.
  • Organize and supervise all road maintenance activities.
  • Organize and plan the manpower and machinery to be able to work safely in all road maintenance work sites.
  • Monitor permanently the infrastructure condition and initiate works accordingly.
  • Monitor the conditions of the infrastructures whether they are safe for the users or not and initiate the necessary actions to achieve safe condition.
  • Estimate manpower requirement and distribute the work according to workload. Adjustment of manpower requirement and distribution is made according to the onsite situation and working conditions to maintain the safe surrounding for the whole crew.
  • Monitor the execution of the work and inspect the result. 
  • Ensure that it is executed safely and efficiently according
    to professional standards and method and given instructions. The results are also checked continuously to evaluate the performance and necessary instructions are given when there is a need.
  • Prepare necessary work permits when required.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary material, equipment, and tools for a proper execution of the work. 
  • Materials, equipment, and tools are checked for their hazardous properties, faults, and danger before using in work site to avoid unsafe working conditions. 
  • Make sure that necessary personal protective equipment are used for handling hazardous materials and using dangerous tools.
  • Carry out on-the-job training to the assigned personnel. Assigned personnel are trained properly to promote their skills and knowledge which contributes to the achievement of safe work site.
  • Propose amendments to the work program according to his experience and infrastructure conditions. 
  • Based on the expertise and experience, the job holder proposes amendments to the work program to achieve safer work condition.
  • Ensure that the spending amount of money is properly recorded with accuracy in accordance with the cost code provided.
  • Perform any other similar or related duties as assigned.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 years experience in civil works, building design, road construction and maintenance, and general public works.
  • Good aptitude to physical efforts.
  • Team supervision capacity.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English.
