RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that develop literacy, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and oral communication.
  • Use storytelling, phonics, guided/shared reading, and writing workshops to support language acquisition.
  • Foster creativity through poetry, drama, debates, storytelling, and role-play.
  • Incorporate listening and speaking activities to build confidence and fluency.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.

Assessment & Student Progress

  • Design and implement formative, reflective, and portfolio-based assessments aligned with progressive, child-centred learning outcomes.
  • Track and document student growth in reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills.
  • Provide constructive, narrative feedback to support learning and self-reflection.
  • Communicate progress to parents through conferences, reports, and learning portfolios.
  • Maintain accurate and meaningful academic records that inform teaching practice.

Classroom Environment

  • Create a progressive, language-rich, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster a love of reading and writing through inquiry-based literacy activities and library programs.
  • Encourage respectful communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Support student wellbeing, agency, and positive behaviour through reflective, child-centred practices.

Curriculum & Collaboration

  • Align lesson planning with school curriculum frameworks and academic standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and literacy initiatives.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and academic planning.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance teaching practice.

Parent & School Engagement

  • Maintain regular communication with parents about student progress and language development.
  • Participate in parent-teacher meetings, orientations, and school events.
  • Support literary festivals, assemblies, competitions, and enrichment programmes.
  • Represent the school's values and culture professionally at all times.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in English, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • CELTA or Trinity TESOL certification preferred.
  • 2–5 years teaching English at the primary level, ideally in progressive, inquiry-based schools.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English; skilled in phonics, grammar, reading, writing, and communication.
  • Proficient in student-centred, activity-based, project based and differentiated teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable using educational technology and digital learning tool.
