About the Role:
We seek a highly skilled Language Manager for Japanese to join our team. In this role, you will ensure the highest linguistic quality and consistency across all projects in Japanese. You will manage a pool of linguists, support onboarding and evaluation efforts, and serve as the go-to linguistic authority for your language. This critical role contributes directly to the success and scalability of our language services.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and support a team of freelance and in-house Japanese linguists.
Develop and maintain linguistic assets such as style guides, glossaries, and translation memories.
Ensure quality and consistency of localized content through review and approval processes.
Collaborate closely with project managers to align on timelines and resource allocation.
Provide linguistic feedback and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Address escalations related to linguistic quality, style, or terminology.
Contribute translation work when needed.
Recruit and onboard new linguistic resources based on project and quality needs.
Evaluate translation tests to assess prospective linguists.
Set KPIs and monitor the performance of newly onboarded team members.
Participate in testing and adopting new tools, processes, or workflows.Qualifications:
Native-level fluency in Japanese with excellent command of English.
Strong background in translation, editing, and quality management.
Proficiency in CAT tools, QA tools, and translation management systems (TMS).
Experience managing linguistic resources (freelance and/or in-house).
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Familiarity with localization workflows and terminology management best practices.
