Job Openings Senior Communications Manager

About the job Senior Communications Manager

 Senior Manager, Communications

About the client

Arthan is conducting this search in confidence on behalf of a client: a leading climate organisation working across Asia on the philanthropic ecosystem, climate resilience and systems change.

It works with funders, civil society organisations and institutions to move climate action from commitment to delivery, and it is building the platforms that will shape how the region's climate capital, talent and ideas connect. The client's name is shared only with shortlisted candidates.

The role

Asia's climate decade will be shaped by who tells its story well.

As Senior Manager, Communications, you will be the strategist and the voice behind a new generation of platforms: one that convenes the region's senior leaders, one that opens the door to green careers, and an intelligence platform that funders and institutions will turn to for an independent view of where climate capital is going.

You will set the narrative, build the brands and earn the trust of audiences who are hard to impress. This is a builder's role in a lean, AI-first team: you set the strategy, and you also write the post, brief the designer, and fix the deck.

Type- Full-time

Experience- 10+ years in communications, brand, marketing or journalism

What you will do

Platform communications strategy

  • Build the communications strategy for an invite-only platform for senior sector leaders: its positioning, voice, exclusivity cues, first-visit experience and the way it earns trust with the people it invites.

  • Build the communications strategy for a green careers platform: its brand, audience journeys from entry level to senior, and the stories that make it the place climate careers start.

  • Keep each platform distinct in voice and audience, and coherent as part of one family of brands. Own the brand architecture across the organisation and its platforms.

  • Plan launch and growth communications for each platform, with clear audience, message, channel and measure.

Intelligence platform: strategic communications

  • Define how the platform is positioned with funders, philanthropic institutions and senior climate leaders, and make its independent point of view credible.

  • Set the communications rules for a product that reports on named institutions: accuracy, sourcing, disclaimers and tone, with a clear process for sensitive items before anything goes out.

  • Shape the invite-only membership story and the communications that go with its regular briefs and other products.

  • Manage reputational risk and handle issues communications, and prepare spokespeople.

Narrative and thought leadership

  • Write and maintain the master narrative: why the organisation exists, what we believe about climate action in Asia and why it matters now.

  • Translate it into messages for climate professionals, employers, funders, policymakers and partners.

  • Shape thought-leadership positions and draft for the Founder and senior leaders.

Content, media and community

  • Run the editorial engine: newsletters, insights, reports and social, with a clear calendar and quality bar. Use AI tools for first drafts, variants and repurposing, and keep human judgement on what to say, to whom and when.

  • Build relationships with national, regional and climate-beat journalists, and plan launches and announcements around major moments, including Climate Week.

  • Shape the storytelling and audience strategy for our flagship conference and other convenings, and grow the community across platforms.

Digital, reporting, partners and budget

  • Own website content, social channels and newsletters, working with product and growth teams on audience. Set communications KPIs and report on reach, engagement, audience growth and brand health.

  • Support fundraising and partnerships with pitch materials, impact reports and case studies, and manage co-branding with partners.

  • Manage agencies and freelancers, and own the communications budget.

What success looks like in your first year

  • First 90 days: a communications audit, a master narrative, and agreed communications strategies for each of the three platforms, including audience, message, channel and measure for each.

  • By month 6: launch-ready brand, messaging and channels for each platform, refreshed brand guidelines in use, a steady editorial calendar, and a working press list with regular coverage.

  • By month 12: each platform launched with a clear, differentiated voice, measurable growth in audience and engagement, the organisation cited as a credible, independent voice on climate funding and talent, and a flagship conference people talk about.

  • Throughout: a communications engine, built on AI and a few trusted partners, that produces work you are proud of without adding headcount.

Who you are

  • 8 or more years in communications, brand, marketing or journalism, with at least 3 years leading work end to end and managing agencies or freelancers.

  • You have launched a product, platform, membership or subscription brand from zero, and can show the positioning, the launch and the results. Invite-only or premium B2B brands are a strong match.

  • You can communicate with senior, sceptical audiences such as funders, CEOs and institutional leaders, and you know how to build trust without hype.

  • You are comfortable with sensitive, reputation-critical communication, where accuracy and judgement matter more than speed.

  • You are an exceptional writer and editor with a distinctive voice, from a social post to a long-form report.

  • You have a strong eye for design, typography, photography and layout.

  • You think strategically but are happy to write the post, brief the designer, and fix the deck yourself.

  • You are digitally fluent: social platforms, newsletters, SEO, analytics, and how to measure what works.

  • You work fluently with AI tools for content, design and web, and you have changed how work gets done.

  • You are comfortable representing the organisation in public, with partners and with the press.
