Arthan is supporting a partner organization in hiring for an experienced and mission-driven Instructional Designer to join Learning & Content team. The role involves designing and developing innovative digital learning experiences tailored for adult learners with limited digital exposure.

This role offers the chance to design engaging, user-friendly learning content delivered via a mobile app and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including UX, research, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital learning modules aligned with the

    organizations skill development roadmap for AI-related work (e.g., transcription, image annotation, content evaluation).
  • Convert complex digital tasks into accessible, bite-sized learning

    experiences suitable for low-literacy and low-tech learners.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Lead, content writers, and UX/UI designers to ensure modules are pedagogically sound and visually engaging.
  • Design storyboards, assessments, quizzes, and feedback tools to track learner progress and engagement.
  • Contribute to pilot testing and user feedback loops to continuously improve instructional content.
  • Ensure alignment of content with adult learning principles, especially for underserved, first-time digital users.
  • Stay updated on best practices in mobile learning, gamification, and instructional design trends.
  • Support documentation, training guides, and toolkits for internal teams and field implementers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in any discipline; Masters degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development, with at least 2 years of experience designing for mobile-based content.
  • Prior experience in the edtech, nonprofit, or workforce skilling sectors is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)

    and adult learning theory.
  • Experience designing accessible learning experiences for low-literacy or underserved populations.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Rise) and/or basic multimedia editing.
  • Familiarity with UX principles and their application to learning design for mobile platforms.
  • Strong visual communication and storytelling skills.

  • Excellent collaboration skills and attention to detail.

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge of AI-related skills such as data labeling, annotation, or

    transcription.
  • Experience using learning analytics or data-driven instructional design.

  • Exposure to mobile-first learning environments or microlearning techniques.
