Location: Delhi

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Required: 6–10 Years

Work Arrangement: On-site (Delhi), 5-day work from the office

About The Company:

Arthan Careers is a Delhi-based social enterprise working to strengthen the talent ecosystem within India's social impact sector. Since 2016, Arthan has partnered with hundreds of mission-driven organizations—including NGOs, foundations, and social enterprises — on talent acquisition, organizational development, and thought leadership, helping bring experienced professionals into leadership and functional roles across the development sector.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to lead the organisation's financial operations, compliance, and reporting. This role owns the full finance function day-to-day—from transaction accuracy to statutory compliance to MIS reporting—and partners directly with senior leadership on financial planning and decision- making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Leadership & Operations

a. Own end-to-end financial operations — vendor payments, employee reimbursements, receipts, and journal entries — ensuring accurate, timely closure each month.

b. Review and approve transactions recorded in Zoho Books, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to internal controls.

c. Oversee reconciliations across bank accounts, vendor ledgers, customer accounts, and inter-company balances, resolving discrepancies promptly.

d. Manage accounts payable and receivable cycles, ensuring vendors are paid on time and dues are realized without delay.

e. Partner with operations and program teams on invoice validation, fund utilization tracking, and project-wise expense booking.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

a. Lead preparation of the annual organizational budget and project-specific budgets in collaboration with program and department heads.

b. Own monthly and quarterly financial forecasts and variance analysis, presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

c. Maintain financial dashboards tracking fund utilization and grant-wise performance.

d. Build donor compliance and budgetary controls into project execution from the outset.

3. Payroll & Reimbursement

a. Oversee monthly payroll processing in coordination with HR, covering employees, consultants, and interns.

b. Validate payroll inputs — attendance, leave deductions, variable pay, new hires, exits, statutory deductions — before release.

c. Ensure statutory compliance on payroll (PF, ESI, TDS), resolving queries raised by HR or auditors.

d. Review employee reimbursement and travel claims for policy and budget adherence.

e. Oversee employee tax computations, mid-year declarations, year-end finalization, and Form 16 generation.

4. Compliance & Statutory Requirement

a. Own timely, accurate filing of statutory returns — TDS, GST, PF, ESI, and MCA compliances.

b. Review TDS return data (Form 26Q, 24Q) and GST filings (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) before filing; coordinate directly with consultants for submission.

c. Lead GST reconciliations between GSTR-2B, purchase registers, and books of accounts, resolving mismatches.

d. Drive audit readiness—prepare and review working papers for internal, statutory, and donor audits and lead responses to auditor queries.

e. Track statutory dues and maintain audit-ready records of challans and filings.

5. Financial Reporting

a. Own preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

b. Develop and present MIS reports on budget utilization, fund balance, and liquidity to senior leadership.

c. Lead preparation of project-specific financial statements for donor and funder reporting.

d. Ensure all reporting aligns with accounting standards, internal policy, and donor templates.

6. Process Improvement

a. Identify gaps in existing accounting and finance workflows and lead initiatives to close them.

b. Drive automation of finance functions—payment approvals, expense tracking, and invoice management.

c. Build and implement internal controls that strengthen audit readiness and reduce financial risk.

d. Lead evaluation and rollout of new finance systems and tools, in collaboration with leadership.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce. Master's/MBA in Finance or CA Inter/Final preferred.

6–10 years of experience in finance and accounting roles, including some experience managing or mentoring junior team members.

Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, taxation (TDS, GST, EPFO, MCA/ROC, etc.), and compliance requirements.

Proven track record owning payroll, reimbursements, vendor management, and statutory filings end-to-end.

Proficient in MS Excel, Zoho, Tally, and financial ERP systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present financial insight clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

High level of integrity, ownership, and attention to detail in all financial operations.

Comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and leading a small team in a fast-paced environment.

What we offer:

A collaborative, fast-paced environment with direct exposure to senior leadership.

Ownership of a key function, with room to shape process and strategy.

Opportunities for professional growth within a mission-driven organisation.

Competitive salary and benefits package.
