Role Overview:
We are seeking a visionary and driven leader to take charge of our Waste Management Services division, comprising two high-impact business lines:

1. Total Waste Management (TWM): End-to-end services for the collection, transportation, and processing of at-source segregated waste from bulk generators.

2. Event Waste Management (EWM): Enabling private and public events to become zerowaste and climate-responsible through sustainable waste solutions.
Together, these two business lines currently contribute to a major share of operating profit,underscoring their strategic importance. 

This role carries full P&L responsibility and is critical to the companys top-line and bottom-line growth. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with operations-intensive business models, a strong strategic mindset, and the ability to pinpoint growth levers and optimize cost structures. They should be adept at managing cross-functional teams from ground operations to leadership roles

Key Responsibilities:

P&L and Strategic Leadership

  • Own end-to-end P&L management, including revenue, costs, margins, and financial forecasting.
  • Identify and act on key levers for business growth and cost optimization.
  • Use financial data (P&L statements, balance sheets, MIS) to inform business decisions and drive profitability.
  • Develop strategies to differentiate offerings and enter new market segments.

Operational Excellence & Expansion

  • Design and execute business strategies based on client needs and market shifts

    Lead geographic expansion and new service line development with a growth mindset.
  • Optimize service delivery models and introduce operational innovations.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Deepen engagement with informal waste workers to ensure their inclusion in both service lines.
  2. Build strong relationships with bulk waste generators, event organizers, municipalities, and partners.
  3. Champion client sustainability goals through tailored waste management solutions.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and mentor diverse operational and support teams across functions and locations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and empathy, aligned with Hasiru Dala Innovations' inclusive ethos.

Monitoring & Innovation

  • Track KPIs and use data-driven insights to continuously optimize service performance.
  • Promote innovation in logistics, waste processing, and digital tools to enhance service quality.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Experience:

  • 8-15 years in business leadership or P&L roles in waste management, logistics, supply chain, facilities, or service-based sectors.
  • Exposure to operations-heavy business models; experience working with distributed teams is a must.
  • Track record of scaling business lines, driving revenue growth, and managing cost centers.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills; capable of independently managing P&Ls and identifying unit economics.
  • Strategic thinker with a bias for execution; skilled in building competitive differentiation.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in high-pressure, real-world operational contexts.
  • Comfortable working with and leading teams across operational and strategic workforce segments

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related disciplines preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent master's degree is a plus.
