About the Role:

Rooted in a deep commitment to climate action, this role is central to advancing strategic investments in India’s carbon sequestration landscape an area that is both urgent and underexplored. 

The team has been actively building its knowledge and networks in the carbon mitigation space, exploring a range of pathways from nature-based solutions to emerging technologies like Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), Biochar, and Direct Air Capture.

We are looking for a Senior Associate to play a key role in identifying, assessing, and supporting investments that build evidence and scale innovative solutions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive research on climate change and decarbonisation pathways, including nature-based and technology solutions, as well as climate finance mechanisms.

    • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify climate impact trends, sector-level climate mitigations policies, emerging practices, and areas for intervention.

    • Stay updated on the policy landscape, sectoral developments, and industry trends about climate finance, research and innovations in decarbonisation.

    • Sourcing and conducting due-diligence for climate investments

  2. Partnership Management:
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align project objectives and outcomes on climate initiatives that we collaborate/support

    • Monitor project progress, evaluate effectiveness, suggest course-correction measures, and generate detailed performance reports.

  3. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
    • Identify and collaborate with climate-organisations to develop sustainable climate solutions and enhance impact.

    • Represent the team at forums, conferences, and events to advance thought leadership in climate research.

  4. Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Coordinate events for engagement with partners through roundtables, seminars, workshops, policy dialogues and other communication and outreach activities.

    • Prepare agendas, curate speakers, and ensure smooth execution of events to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration.

  5. Knowledge Management and Impact Communication:
    • Create simple and clear communication materials like briefs, reports, and presentations to share key research findings. Break down complex climate data into easy-to-understand formats for different audiences such as donors, team members, and other partners.

Required Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in environmental/climate science, economics, public policy, engineering, statistics, urban/environmental planning, or related subjects.

  • Minimum 4 years of full time work experience in roles in climate finance, environment- development, climate policy, climate engineering, climate mitigation and adaptation

  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis with ability to derive insights from complex or imperfect data.

  • Experience in Project management.

  • Highly motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous learning.

  • Willingness to travel to remote project locations and support the organisation of workshops and partner consultations.

  • Exposure to nature - based carbon based mitigation solutions, DFIs, blended finance stakeholders, philanthropic capital providers, and climate ecosystem thought partners is desirable
