About the Job

One of our partner organizations is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced HR leader to join their HR team as Senior Lead - Human Resources (Employee Experience). In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the employee experience for all employees. You will be responsible for designing organizational policies, SOPs, and working closely with the leadership team on their implementation. You will lead culture building, value alignment, and well-being initiatives, as well as support DEI initiatives. Additionally, you will manage grievances, employee relations, and employee engagement while measuring and enhancing employee satisfaction across the organizations nationwide teams.

This role requires strong expertise in HR management, SOPs, policies, grievance redressals, technology, data, and strategic HR management tailored to the unique challenges of the NGO sector in India.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employee Experience

  • Lead the organizational employee experience strategy and initiatives.
  • Act as the custodian of HR policies & SOPs, ensuring their effective creation, communication, and implementation.
  • Design and implement a robust performance management system, exit management system, and other HR journey touchpoints.
  • Lead grievance redressal practices, conflict resolution, whistleblowing practices, and institutionalize the code of conduct in alignment with organizational values.
  • Support HRMS adoption.
  • Develop and implement strategic HR initiatives focused on culture building and align these initiatives with the organizational objectives.
  • Measure employee engagement and create programs to enhance workplace culture and satisfaction.
  • Lead employee health and well-being initiatives, implement effective employee benefit schemes, and oversee payroll administration.
  • Build and manage Employee Resource Groups.
  • Conduct cultural audits, analyze results, and recommend action plans while fostering a culture of constructive feedback.
  • Design and implement career development plans, succession planning, and competency mapping.
  • Provide strategic input on people-related matters and collaborate with stakeholders to drive employee relations initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of DEI aspects in the HR lifecycle.
  • Oversee HR operational and cyclical activities such as lifecycle management and contracting.

2. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with DEI, L&D, Safeguarding, Tech/IT, and program teams to ensure seamless implementation and optimization of employee experience.
  • Engage with external vendors, consultants, and service providers for continuous system improvements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for employee experience, guiding teams on best practices.
  • Manage a team to drive results.
  • Lead internal HR communication, governance, and knowledge management.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Passionate about delivering exceptional employee experience initiatives for both field and office teams across diverse social development programs, departments, and locations.
  • Masters degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, IT, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of HR experience with at least 8 years focused on HR operations or employee experience and 4+ years in culture building.
  • Hands-on experience in HR in a medium to large organization, preferably an NGO.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in HR dashboards, policy writing, and tech-enabled lifecycle support.
  • Deep knowledge of HR processes and best practices in NGOs.
  • Working knowledge of Indian labor compliance norms and HRIS best practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel, HRIS, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent listening, writing, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in HR data management & analytics.
  • Sound understanding of Indias social sector HR norms and constraints.

  • Strong ability to demonstrate success in diverse work environments.
