Major Role and Overall Responsibilities

Perform and own accounting processes and closes for organisation’s Hong Kong, Singapore, and India entities. Will be cross trained in United States and United Kingdom entities as well.

  • Develop and improve and write Finance and Accounting processes and procedures.

  • Using Sage / Intacct financials, manage multi-entity and multi-currency, execute GL Transactions and own Bank Reconciliations globally.

  • Work directly with, support and assist Operations Assistants to achieve Finance goals and accurate deliverables.

  • Manage and coordinate work closely with the Manager and Controller as needed to achieve goals, and complete projects.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Global Audit Process and Local Compliances HK, SG, ESPL & EIT
    • Manage statutory audits for Indian and HK entities. Work closely with the Manager and Controller on consolidated US audit.

    • Manage audit fieldwork and work closely with audit firm senior managers.


  • Global Monthly closes - HK, SG, ESPL & EIT
    • Fully own the close process. Record, code & analyse the organization’s daily, weekly and monthly transactions in multiple currencies, and for multiple entities. That includes invoices, payables, payroll and liabilities, pension, intercompany payments, intercompany re-bills.

    • Prepare accurate, timely monthly accounting closes in accordance with our established schedule, and with input from various Finance and Operations team members. Manage internal and external stakeholders and help maintain and monitor adequate and appropriate files and support for all transactions.

    • Manage maintain & analyse functional expense allocations on an ongoing basis.

    • Perform monthly, and quarterly balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations and reviews to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.

    • Record monthly prepaid expenses. Reconcile prepaid balances periodically.


  • Global Accounts Payable
    • Enter bills and supports accurately for approval by the Controller. Maintain lists of all recurring payments so that they are paid in a timely manner.

    • Execute and wire transfers for accounts payable and grants, using online banking facilities. Run weekly accounts payable check runs for processing. Record all transactions in multiple entities, and in currency. Manage and execute all tax deposits. Specifically for India the TDS and GST deposits.

    • Manage cash flow for HK and India entities.

  • Process and Analysis

  • Manage global AR collectability periodically with the Operations Assistants.

  • Manage and reconcile bank accounts on an on-going basis, and at month end, ensuring accuracy and propriety of bank transactions and balances.

  • Reconcile Grantmaking activity (Fluxx vs Sage) with the Programs (Global Grant Operations Officer). Report and analyze problems as identified.

  • Reconcile Salesforce inputs and activity (Salesforce vs Sage) with Operations Assistants and external Salesforce consultant. Report and analyze problems as identified

  • Education Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 8 year’s work experience in accounting and finance, in a nonprofit and global environment. Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency framework, and global business environment is a must.

  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required.

  • Sage/Intacct experience preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required

  • Commitment to organisation’s mission, interest in youth development and/or effective global philanthropy

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with culturally diverse audiences and different personalities.

  • Able to work virtually with a team across multiple time zones (requiring some morning/evening calls) and demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork.

  • Ability to control and handle information that is confidential and time sensitive.

  • Ability to work with a small team in a dynamic environment.
