Position: Assistant Lead, Communications

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Lead Communications, the Assistant Lead will play a crucial role in supporting the development and execution of communication strategies. This position is ideal for a proactive communicator with strong skills in content creation, media relations, and social media management.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Support: Assist in drafting, editing, and distributing various content types including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, and reports. Ensure that all content aligns with the organisation's messaging and branding.
Media Relations: Support the Lead Communications in managing media relationships, including maintaining media lists, tracking coverage, and assisting in the preparation of press materials. Handle media inquiries as needed.
Expertise and experience in global media outreach is an advantage.
Social Media Management: Help in planning and executing social media strategies, including content creation, scheduling, and performance tracking. Engage with followers and monitor social media trends.
Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating communication projects and campaigns, ensuring timelines are met and deliverables are executed effectively.
Internal Communication: Support internal communication efforts by creating and disseminating materials that keep the team informed and aligned with the organisations objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
3-8 years of experience in Communications with a focus on content creation and writing, media relations and social media.
Strong writing, editing and verbal communications skills
Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and working under tight deadlines in a start-up environment
Experience in working in a collaborative environment
