About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Manager - HR who will lead and execute our human resource strategies. This pivotal role will have strategic direction, encompassing areas such as succession planning, talent management, organisational performance, training and development, and compensation. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of individuals within the NGO, ultimately contributing to the achievement of its mission and objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage the execution of the HR Strategy and core areas of the HR department including Recruitment, Employee Relations, Workforce Administration, Employee Engagement, Payroll, Reward and Recognition, as well as maintaining and improving HR systems and management of the HR budget.
Strategic HR Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization's business objectives
Identify HR priorities, anticipate future workforce needs, and develop plans to develop, and retain top talent.
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Forecasting talent requirements and
budgeting. Oversee the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the organization attracts and hires qualified candidates
Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management systems and processes that align individual and team goals with organizational objectives. Provide guidance and support to managers in conducting performance evaluations, setting performance standards, and addressing performance issues
Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment-related matters
Manage employee relations issues, such as grievances, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.Advise and strategise on the development of effective employment policies across the organisation.
Compensation and Benefits: Oversee the design and implementation of compensation and benefits programs that attract, motivate, and retain employees Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation packages and benefits offerings.
Monitor and analyze trends in compensation and benefits to make recommendations for improvement
Learning and Development: Develop and execute an L&D strategy aligned with the NGO's mission, values, and goals.
Collaborate with department heads, program managers, and volunteers to identify learning needs, gather insights, and align L&D efforts with organisational priorities.
Develop mechanisms for assessing the effectiveness and impact of training initiatives, including collecting feedback, measuring outcomes, and making improvements based on data.
HR Policy Development and Compliance: Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that comply with applicable laws and regulations
Stay updated on changes in employment laws and regulations and ensure the
organization's HR practices are in compliance.
Design and implementation of overall Talent strategy for the organisation
Design and implementation of HR systems and processes towards scaling of the organisation
- Who we are looking for:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related field - 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Preferably experience in designing and managing learning and development programs, preferably within the nonprofit or NGO sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to social impact, social justice, and the values of the NGO sector.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS), online collaboration tools, and e-learning platforms.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs and emerging trends in nonprofit L&D.
- Experience working in cross-cultural contexts is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
- Sincerely passionate about L&D and making a change.
- Experience in talent management, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Knowledge of change management principles and organizational development.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
