Program Manager - Agri Capacity Building


Job Profile:
The Program Manager, Agri CB will be responsible for leading, strategizing, and implementing agriculture and climate change-specific project programs involving FPCs, while formulating strategies to increase womens participation in agriculture. This includes enabling women and member farmers to access knowledge, technology, government programs, climate resilience, and services through regular handholding and training. The role also involves providing credit and marketing linkage support for farmer collectives.

Capacity Building, Ecosystem Nurturing:

  • Lead the development and design of agri capacity-building interventions for smallholder farmers, women farmers, and FPOs in areas like climate resilience, technology, digital/financial literacy, access to government schemes, extension services, and agronomic training.
  • Identify experts and institutions working with women in agriculture, such as FPOs, cooperatives, and SHG federations.
  • Recruit, train, and manage key team members at the head office and across project geographies.
  • Ensure ecosystem nurturing by building the capacities of various stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities: (Indicative, not exhaustive)

  • Support the strategizing and implementation of agriculture capacity-building activities.
  • Customize the capacity-building program based on project objectives and beneficiary needs.
  • Lead baseline assessments and rapport-building exercises with partner organizations.
  • Conduct need assessments and scoping studies for FPOs to identify their activities, operational gaps, and scaling opportunities, including credit and marketing linkages to ensure sustainability.
  • Evaluate stakeholders' capacity-building requirements.
  • Customize training programs and refine existing content to meet requirements.
  • Develop capacity-building modules and tools to ensure quality demonstration and replication.
  • Deliver training, seminars, and workshops to strengthen stakeholders' capacities.
  • Provide grassroots-level and project staff training as needed.
  • Coordinate with the credit team to assess credit needs for FPOs when required.
  • Facilitate the use of tools such as social research, monitoring, evaluation frameworks, and follow-up actions to assess training quality.
  • Develop and maintain process documents, training feedback, evaluation methods, and other related tools.
  • Support resource mobilization and business development for the thematic vertical.
