About the role:

Our client is looking for a mission-driven Project Manager to lead and support the organization's Resilience Data Collaborative which will bring together governments, research institutions, civil society organisations, coastal communities, and development partners to strengthen evidence-based action
for coastal resilience. The role combines programme management, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, ecosystem building, and knowledge coordination, with a focus on advancing data-driven approaches to addressing coastal challenges such as erosion, flooding, ecosystem degradation, and climate risks. 

The ideal candidate will be able to bridge coastal, ecosystems, community perspectives, scientific research, governance processes, and data-driven
decision-making, while effectively managing multi-stakeholder collaborations and driving collective action towards resilient and sustainable coastal futures.

Roles & Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Planning:

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of projects, from kickoff to closure
  • Scope out the project requirements with partners and build synergies internally with the team.
  • Build project boards (e.g ClickUp), track milestones, and update stakeholders on delivery plans
  • Set up and facilitate project onboarding for the team: conduct knowledge transfer (KT) sessions, define scope along with Initiative leads.
  • Anticipate possible challenges and plan mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government and other partners, coordinating, onboarding, regular updates, and field consultations
  • Collaborate with internal domain leads and external partners to ensure alignment on expectations, timelines, and deliverables
  • Manage stakeholders at national and state levels

Project Execution & Quality Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of the project, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Track progress across multiple streams using agile tools, organising stand-ups, retros, and mid-project reviews
  • Facilitate periodic project reviews with Initiative leads, Finance team and other team members in collaboration with product PoCs and support version management
  • Ensure documentation, reporting, budgeting, and partner coordination are robust and on schedule

Field Engagement & Travel

  • Travel for project-related activities and other opportunities related to project within Delhi and other states [Odisha, Kerala and Tamil Nadu]
  • Keep a regular touch base with the partners

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • 5 to 8+ years of experience in climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, public policy, or environmental management.
  • Familiar with coastal governance frameworks, climate adaptation planning, and ecosystem restoration programs at the state or national levels
  • Strong understanding of coastal issues such as erosion, flooding, sea-level rise, mangrove conservation, fisheries, and the blue economy.
  • Experienced in working with diverse coastal stakeholders including government departments, local fisher groups, CSOs, and research institutions.
  • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs from project scoping and planning to final execution.
  • Direct exposure to data-driven decision-making, geospatial analysis, GIS/remote sensing datasets, or climate risk monitoring tools.
  • Strong relationship management skills to build strategic collaborations and secure long-term institutional buy-in from state governments.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills for stakeholder engagement with senior IAS/government officials and grassroots community leaders.
  • You can collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary internal teams spanning policy, data science, technology, design, and product implementation.
  • Skilled at using agile project management tools like ClickUp to track milestones, run team stand-ups, and manage day-to-day operations.
  • Experience building sustainable pipelines for partnerships, funding opportunities, or technical grant proposals with philanthropic and development donors.
  • Fully aligned with leveraging open data and technology for the public good and are ready to travel frequently to coastal states like Odisha, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
