Role Summary:

Our client is seeking a Chief Impact Officer to lead their impact operations globally across Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. This is a strategic, entrepreneurial, and multinational leadership role that will guide both internal funded programs and externally funded initiatives. The CIO will play a critical role in scaling the impact while ensuring financial sustainability, operational excellence, and brand credibility.

Responsibilities:

1. Impact Strategy & Oversight:

  • Lead the design, management, and evaluation of the organization's impact campaigns across multiple continents - both internal initiatives and external partner-funded programs.
  • Align regional programs with global strategy to ensure scalable, sustainable impact.

2. Business Development & Fundraising:

  •  Identify and build relationships with donors, foundations, multilaterals, relevant corporates, and CSR funders.
  • Lead the development of funding proposals, impact models, and partnership frameworks. 
  • Ensure long-term funding pipelines to sustain and grow Impact operations.

3. Strategic Projects and Initiatives:

  • Support a range of digital and insight implementations to build and expand these foundations. 
  • Source and work with relevant third-party innovators and embed within impact operations when required.

4. Team Leadership & Cross-Regional Management:

  • Manage regional teams in Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. 
  • Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing and operational consistency across markets. 
  • Build high-performing, impact-driven teams.

5. Financial Management & Sustainability:

  • Own the P&L for all impact programs. 
  • Ensure financial accountability and efficient use of resources. 
  • Drive performance and outcomes-based funding models.

6. Operational Management:

  • Handle hiring, people management, KPI and OKR setting and tracking, etc.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:

  • Implement robust impact measurement frameworks. 
  • Use data to guide strategic decisions and continuous improvement.

8. External Communications & Brand Building 

  • Represent the organization at conferences, donor forums, and media engagements. 
  • Strengthen the organizations thought leadership and brand as a leading access innovator.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in public health, with significant leadership roles.
  • Experience working in Africa, India, or both; ideally across multiple countries.
  • Exposure to private sector health delivery and innovation, ideally including social marketing
  • Deep knowledge of barriers to healthcare access in low-resource settings.
  • Strong experience with community health, CHWs and primary care systems.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and ability to lead new initiatives.
  • High attention to detail and strategic thinking skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across regions (up to 50%)
  • Experience managing program budgets and financial performance (P&L).
  • Deep commitment to health equity and improving access to care.
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry and how it intersects with access work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
