QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in engineering
- Three to five years of plastic injection molding experience is a Plus.
- Must possess electrical and mechanical print reading skills.
- High skill level in creating and developing robot and PLC programs.
- Good computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) are necessary.
- Must pass Thurstone, Mechanical, Graphic, Math, and Excel tests.
- Strong root cause analysis skills are necessary.
GENERAL FUNCTION
- Supervises maintenance technicians and supports process technicians, managing their workload accordingly.
- Provides technical support for existing automation processes and is responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining molding automation processes for all new injection molds and new equipment related to automation. Maintains documentation for maintenance and automation processes.
- Oversees all building maintenance activities, including planning, prioritizing, coordinating, scheduling, and follow-through.
- Manages robot installation and programming.
- Handles PLC installation and programming.
- Monitors and controls supply and equipment, ordering supplies and tools as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Supports the completion of trials on new molds, particularly when automation is required. This includes establishing and validating automation on molding process programs and supporting the completion of mold trial reports.
- Validates the automation molding process, ensuring it is ready for mass production before releasing it to the molding department. Responsible for supporting all trials to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
- Collaborates with production, quality, PPE, and plant management to meet internal criteria and expectations for all automation injection mold processes.
- Trains all Molding Technicians and Process Engineers in automation molding processes and provides ongoing support to production and process engineering. E. Provides technical support in the area of automation engineering to all departments.
- Troubleshoots all automation and integration molding process-related problems, working with supervisors and personnel to resolve issues and implement countermeasures.
- Recommends auxiliary equipment needed for existing or new processes in manufacturing.
- Assists with continuous improvement activities within the production department, including Kaizen activities.
- Implements training programs within the maintenance and process technician for continuous growth and development.
- Evaluates existing manufacturing systems and develops new systems to optimize production methods and efficiencies.
- Provides guidance in engineering and supervision regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
- Develops, writes, and directs machine specifications and implements them.
- Develops and implements standard work practices.
- Helps maintain and improve machine and equipment layouts within the production department.
- Assists with new project planning from pre-production up to mass production.
- Participates in the APQP process and closes action items related to automation.
- Interacts and communicates with management, engineers, maintenance, operators, quality control, and customers on automation process issues.
- Recommends brands, spare parts, repairs, and automation process improvements when necessary.
- Supervises and assists Maintenance Technicians on the production floor by providing training support, technical support, answering machine alarms, assisting with set-up and production start-up, and helping address performance issues with direct reports.
- Helps ensure adherence to the process change request procedure and assists in completing trials as needed.
- Leads the automation project in ST, supporting the management team in the development of the process and layout.
