Organization Background

The Arroyo Seco Saints, a certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization, attracts elite college players, coaches, and college students seeking to gain experience in the sports industry to the greater Los Angeles area for the months of June and July. A proud member of the California Collegiate League and entering its 21st season of operation, the Saints strive to provide the finest collegiate summer baseball experience in the nation. 

Learn by doing! Graphic Design interns will be key players in advancing our mission. You will spend the summer gaining valuable experience in the sports industry, building your resume and career portfolio, and learning through mentoring, networking, and training.

Graphic Design Responsibilities

Overall

  • Responsible for visually telling the story of the Arroyo Seco Saints collegiate summer baseball experience through a variety of graphic design channels: print, digital, video and others as assigned.
  • Maintain the Saints brand integrity in all elements.
  • Assist with the development and design of graphics, logos, banners, collateral, and a variety of other creative tasks as assigned.
  • Design graphics to be used for in-game and program-wide marketing opportunities: Saints website, Saints social media platforms, California Collegiate League (CCL) website, and other platforms.
    • On a daily and game by game basis, edit, label and upload graphic design elements to the Saints website, internal management platform, and social media accounts, plus more.
    • Work closely with Saints staff and fellow interns to produce compelling in-game and marketing content.
    • Interface with designers and content managers from the California Collegiate League to fulfill the graphics requirements of the league. This is includes, but is not limited to: CCL All Star Game, CCL Playoffs, CCL Golf Tournament, various fundraisers, website graphics support, etc.
    • Create content as directed for annual reports, strategic plans, and requirements documentation.
    • During the season of play (June-July), attend all home games (and road games as assigned), as part of the Creative Services Team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Fellowship Qualifications & Requirements

    • Ability to create deliverables with the Adobe Creative Suite, with proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
    • An online, reviewable portfolio of past work as it is related to this position.
    • Prior experience in sports-related graphic design.
    • Ability to work as part of a team in a multimedia-driven creative environment.
    • Knowledge of HTML and web design is preferred but not required.
    • Highly creative, imaginative, and a self-starter.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Working knowledge of the college athletics sector. Knowledge of baseball is a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of current social media trends.
    • Possess a passion and proficiency for graphic design.
    • Pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate degree in a related major.
    • Represent the Arroyo Seco Saints exhibiting a high-level of professionalism at all times.
    • Knowledge of design, layout and composition principles.
    • Experience with Adobe Apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Illustrator.
    • Computer for designing and editing.
    • Experience or familiarity with After Effects is a plus.
    • Upbeat and friendly attitude.
    • Excellent organizational skills. Self-motivated and detail oriented.
    • A team player with a get it done work ethic. Be deadline driven.
    • Ability to create and edit graphics in-game.
    • Strong knowledge of current social media trends.
    • Interact with Saints front office members, coaches, players, staff, the California Collegiate League, and more.
    • Working knowledge of the college athletics sector. Knowledge of baseball is a plus.

    Notes & Time Commitments

    • This 12-month Fellowship is divided into phases. From hire date to May, the position is fully remote, focused on tasks to prepare for the upcoming season. From June to early August, it shifts to a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence during the season of play as part of the Creative Services Team. After the season concludes, the role returns to remote work through the end of the term, focusing on post-season wrap-up and preparation for the next season.
    • The position is eligible as a college credit internship. Applicants not in need of credit may still apply.
    • All intern staff will be required to participate (in-person or by conference call) in an introductory meeting in late May.
    • Hours Will Vary. Game Days are typically 1:00-10:00 p.m. Non-game days are on an as-needed basis.
    • Some remote hours will be required to complete tasks within allotted time frames.
    • All interns will be required to commit for the duration of the season(exceptions for varying school start/stop dates will be reviewed on an individual basis).
    • The term of the season can include up to two (2) weeks prior and two (2) weeks after the beginning and ending of the game schedule.
    • The Saints college summer season runs June to early August.
    • Ability to begin remote work before the season begins is a plus.
