Arkansas Talent Group's Executive Search Division is seeking a Behavioral Health Medical Director in Little Rock, AR for an Arkansas-based healthcare organization.

This is a newly created role driven by organizational growth. In this pivotal role, you will lead the strategic direction and clinical oversight for behavioral health and developmental disabilities programs. You will play a key role in shaping clinical policy, driving quality initiatives, and integrating behavioral health services into the broader care model. As a key clinical leader, you will ensure that client care meets the highest standards of clinical excellence and regulatory compliance while advancing the mission to deliver comprehensive, person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and clinical direction for the Utilization Management (UM) program, with a focus on behavioral health and developmental disability services.
  • Deliver clinical oversight on medical necessity reviews across a wide range of services, including inpatient care, psychiatric residential treatment facilities (PRTFs), outpatient Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), and Community and Employment Support Waiver services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ensure consistent application of medical necessity criteria and evidence-based guidelines in all reviews.
  • Collaborate with UM staff to determine the most appropriate levels of care through case consultations and staffing support.
  • Conduct clinical consultations and peer-to-peer reviews with providers regarding service authorization requests.
  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert for policy development, regulatory compliance, and internal committee engagement.
  • Actively participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on enhancing care quality and optimizing total cost of care.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school
  • Psychiatrist, with an active unrestricted license in the State of Arkansas
  • Preferred license in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • 3-5 years of managed care experience, preferred
