Arkansas Talent Group is exclusively working with a large Construction Company in Fayetteville, Arkansas to help them find a Controller for their organization!
Controller will lead financial operations for several surrounding states in the region of the company. They are one of the nations leaders in their space and they are dedicated to making an impact on their local communities. This is a unique opportunity to join an industry leader dedicated to excellence, innovation, and empowering its people. This is a newly created position due to growth and promotions and the new Controller will be stepping into a high caliber and tenured accounting team. Position will report directly to a Regional VP of Finance.
As Controller, you will be the financial backbone of the division, overseeing all accounting functions and ensuring the integrity of our financial data. You will play a key role in strategic decision-making, process improvement, and team development.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development:
Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of accounting professionals. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages growth, accountability, and continuous improvement - Financial Management:
Direct the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with corporate deadlines and accounting standards - Variance Analysis:
Provide insightful analysis and clear explanations of financial results, highlighting variances against forecasts and budgets - Accounts Payable & Payroll Oversight:
Supervise the processing of payables and payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls and audit standards - Policy Compliance:
Ensure all accounting practices align with company policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain a thorough understanding of the Accounting Policy Manual and enforce compliance - Financial Reporting:
Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial and statistical reports to division leadership, supporting data-driven decision-making - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead monthly budget reviews, support land acquisition analysis, and monitor key operational metrics such as sales activity, starts, and closings - Special Projects:
Tackle ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership, contributing to the organizations ongoing success and innovation
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, 3+ years experience managing a large team
- Construction or Real Estate experience is highly preferred; Also experience working with a large organization is preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial systems such as Hyperion, EssBase, or JD Edwards is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
