Arkansas Talent Group is searching for a Controller to oversee the financial operations within our client's 20-30M dollar privately held manufacturing organization, ensuring cost efficiency, accurate forecasting, and alignment with organizational goals. This role requires strategic financial planning, team leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional departments to optimize production costs and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Management & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain standard unit costs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing products.
  • Conduct variance analysis (labor, purchase price variance, overhead) to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement cost-control measures and monitor material/labor expenses to minimize waste.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and accuracy, ensuring alignment with financial records.

Financial Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing operations.
  • Prepare detailed financial models to support capital expenditure decisions and production scaling.
  • Analyze manufacturing trends to forecast cash flow, resource needs, and operational risks.

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Manage a team of accountants and analysts, providing guidance on financial reporting and cost accounting.
  • Collaborate with production, logistics, and procurement teams to align financial plans with operational workflows.
  • Present financial insights to senior leadership, translating data into actionable recommendations.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Oversee month-end/year-end closings, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare financial statements and production analysis reports.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and improve financial accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA/CMA preferred, but not required).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, or related environment
  • Supervisory experience highly desired, or ability to step into a leadership role
