About the job Assistant Controller

Arkansas Talent Group is exclusively working with a large Publicly Traded Company in Little Rock to help them find a Assistant Controller for their Corporate Accounting team. They are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Assistant Controller that will report directly to the Controller and play a pivotal role in the monthly accounting process for multiple entities and contribute to the overall financial health of the company. The position will allow the opportunity to collaborate closely with a very large accounting department and other cross functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions prepared by accounting staff.
  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements and management reports, providing insightful analysis and commentary.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis, investigate discrepancies, and present findings to senior management.
  • Maintain and enhance a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliant control environment, including the design and implementation of internal controls.
  • Coordinate and support external financial and tax audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.
  • Mentor, train, and supervise accounting team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to align and standardize accounting policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
  • Participate in strategic projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate or public accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing and developing accounting teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
