Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a carbon offset project development company to find a Senior Forest Carbon Analyst. This is a newly created position due to the company's rapid growth and may be based Remote U.S. or in Conway, AR. You will be a critical team member, developing high-quality carbon credits for their buyers and returning significant value to their landowner partners. Your primary responsibility is to support forest carbon modeling efforts; however, an ability to think creatively to optimize processes and shrink project timelines will allow for growth and advancement.

Duties:

  • Use a full range of spatial (GIS), database, spreadsheet, software manipulations, and other tools to process, calculate, analyze, and digest raw and finalized forest carbon data.
  • Utilize forest growth and yield models for the development of forest carbon programs through biometric principles and knowledge of common silvicultural management practices to generate representative long-term projections of forest carbon.
  • Advance and develop processes and procedures to support project verifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of project data reports and verification documentation.
  • Travel occasionally and when necessary to project sites, team training meetings, and /or conferences.

Qualifications:

  • University degree, certification, or work experience in forestry or earth sciences; Masters degree in forestry, natural resources, or related subjects preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with forest carbon modeling activities, preferred
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in forest biometrics and statistical analysis
  • Experience in the application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) programs (e.g., ArcGIS Pro software)
  • Experience using the USFS Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS)
  • Experience with forest inventories, forest management plans, and timber harvest plans
  • Ability to build and cultivate strong and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
