The Environmental Engineer will play a key role in driving environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across the organization. In this dynamic position, you will apply your expertise to evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques and procedures to meet complex environmental challenges. As the technical lead and the sites primary safety and environmental authority, you will guide efforts to ensure adherence to regulations, promote best practices, and help shape a culture of environmental responsibility. Duties will include:
- Interpret and communicate current and potential environmental regulations and company requirements affecting the facility
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of environmental system metrics, identifying areas for improvement and driving implementation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental best practices into operating procedures, engineering practices, and asset management
- Review environmental performance data, communicate non-compliance issues to leadership, and proactively identify potential risks, offering solutions for resolution.
- Ensure timely submission of regulatory applications to maintain valid operating permits.
- Identify and oversee the completion of environmental compliance activities, including parameter sampling and monitoring (internally and through third-party services).
- Compile, prepare, and submit regulatory reports in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
- B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience (M.S. degree preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in environmental engineering, wastewater engineering, chemical engineering, or consulting, with a strong background in the dairy industry
- Proven experience in Project Management, with a track record of successfully leading interdisciplinary projects
- Proficient in reading and developing Process Flow, Piping, and Instrumentation diagrams, and interpreting Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical drawings
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Outlook, Visio)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Skilled in multi-tasking and managing competing priorities
- Formal Project Management training or certification preferred
