About the job Assistant Controller
Arkansas Talent Group is working with a large client in the Financial Services Industry to help them find an Assistant Controller for their organization in Little Rock. This is a fantastic role in the Little Rock market that will work closely with the C-Suite and Board of Directors and has quick growth opportunity to a Controller role in just a couple of years.
This role is essential for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. The successful candidate will be proactive, organized, and eager to play a hands-on role in accounting operations and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and enhance internal control processes to ensure robust financial reporting and safeguard the integrity of company assets
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
- Serve as the primary liaison for fraud prevention initiatives
- Develop, implement, and review financial procedures to boost efficiency and ensure data integrity
- Manage all aspects of fixed asset administration
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards by entering and reviewing General Ledger data, assigning appropriate account codes, and verifying alignment with organizational policies
- Lead the assessment, design, and implementation of Internal Control over Financial Reporting
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits; respond to auditor inquiries as needed
- Support integration of accounting systems, maintaining accuracy across intercompany transactions, loan systems, and general ledger interfaces to ensure the reliability of financial statements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with management
- Maintain current knowledge of GAAP and evolving regulatory requirements, actively adapting internal processes to reflect industry best practices and changes in standards
- Communicate complex accounting and control concepts effectively to a variety of stakeholders, including management, auditors, and cross-functional teams
- Supervise or mentor staff accountants and accounting clerks
- Participate in special projects, such as financial systems implementations and process enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- CPA Required
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in Public Accounting or Internal Audit
- Strong understanding of GAAP; knowledge of regulatory compliance standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and present clear, actionable recommendations
