Arkansas Talent Group is working with a booming small to mid-sized service business who are looking for an Operations Controller who is hands-on and a jack of all trades and someone who will be deeply involved not just in accounting, but also in operations, HR, IT support, and act as a trusted right hand to the CEO.

Position Summary:

This is a hands-on, high-impact Controller role requiring strong financial acumen, operational involvement, and flexibility. The successful candidate will manage the full spectrum of accounting and bookkeeping, collaborate closely with our CPA on tax matters, support HR functions including onboarding, insurance, and 401(k) administration, work with sales teams, and troubleshoot IT issues. QuickBooks proficiency is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute general bookkeeping (hands on), including high-volume billing, checks processing, and financial record keeping using QuickBooks.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, working closely with CPA and external auditors for year-end tax preparation and compliance.
  • Act as the right hand to the CEO by managing day-to-day finance operations and assisting in executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with sales leadership to support revenue tracking, billing accuracy, and sales-related financial reporting.
  • Manage HR duties such as employee onboarding, benefits administration (insurance, 401(k)), and support payroll processes.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and troubleshooting for IT issues and related support needs.
  • Ensure timely accounts payable and receivable processing to maintain cash flow and financial control.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by stepping into various operational roles as needed in this family business environment.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion in handling company and family financial matters.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial and operational systems and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting role in a fast-paced, hands-on environment (must have high volume experience around 40-50M in rev).
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office suite; solid Excel skills preferred.
  • Comfortable handling a wide scope of responsibilities including bookkeeping, reporting, HR, and IT support.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a trusted partner to leadership.
  • Experience working in or with family businesses is a plus.
  • High integrity and respect for confidential information.
  • Familiarity with 401(k) administration and employee benefits management preferred.
  • Willingness to adapt and contribute in a variety of operational capacities beyond finance.
